We at Clay Tablet Productions are called to be a part of this coming media revival in the area of film production. We are moving forward with distinctly prophetic film projects that speak words of healing, reconciliation, and warning to our nation about the signs of the times.
Funding is the primary reason the media industry is controlled by just a handful of companies. Film making is expensive, no matter how you approach it. And as Christians seeking to produce films that speak prophetically to the nation, we suffer the same malady that every filmmaker suffers--lack of start-up funds. In most venture capital situations, a handful of investors put up large sums of money to finance a film they believe in. Since Christian filmmakers have generally been unsuccessful in finding these wealthy individuals to fund their projects, a new model is suggested to raise the capital needed to produce a film. This model is called Crowd Funding.
Crowd Funding takes the traditional model and turns it on its head. Instead of four financial backers putting up $25,000 each to fund the film, what if 10,000 individuals each donate $10.00 to fund a project they can believe in? Such a small donation is hardly missed from most people's budget, but when pooled together with donations from thousands of others, the impossible becomes possible.
